GIVING BACK
Texas Ramp Project |
Waypoint founders Donna & Stuart Taylor have been regular volunteers with the Texas Ramp Project since 2009. Stuart is a Build Leader and Donna is the Volunteer Recruiter for the Austin / Travis County team. The Texas Ramp Project builds freedom for the elderly, the disabled and for those with serious medical conditions who are home-bound and don't have the resources to have a ramp installed. Volunteers with the Texas Ramp Project have built over 17,000 ramps across the state since its founding 2006.

Champions to CureDuchenne |
Donna and Stuart started helping out on the planning committee for the annual Champions to CureDuchenne charity event in 2009. With the help of Sally & Mack Brown, Vince Young, Jim Spencer and hundreds of volunteers over the years, the event has raised millions of dollars to fund research that will lead to a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). DMD is a devastating condition that is 100% fatal. It affects nearly 15,000 boys in the United States. Donna & Stuart's son, Jordan, is one of the many boys anxiously hoping for a cure.

Flying Vikings |
For founder Stuart Taylor, flying has always been a passion. Volunteering as a pilot for Flying Vikings allows children with chronic illnesses and physical disabilities to enjoy a high flying adventure. These children and their parents get to soar through the sky and take the controls of a real airplane. The experience allows children and their parents to take their minds off of the daily struggles of battling a chronic illness or disability while creating fun memories that will last a lifetime.

Patient Airlift Services |
Patient Airlift Services (PALS) and Angel Flight are large networks of general aviation (GA) pilots that provide free medical flights and transportation services for individuals with serious medical challenges or humanitarian needs. After Hurricane Harvey's destructive landfall on the Texas' gulf coast a dedicated group of physicians and pilots worked to collect critical medical supplies needed in areas devastated by the storm. The Taylors and dozens of other pilots used their small aircraft to move the medical supplies from collection points in central and north Texas to small GA airports near the Texas gulf coast not accessible by ground transportation. As these photos show it was a mammoth undertaking supported by thousands of volunteers and businesses from Texas and surrounding states.

Austin Marathon
|
A family tradition for the Taylors is volunteering at the Austin Marathon. Dedicated friends and neighbors join in each year to support the CureDuchenne water stop . It takes dozens of other volunteers to keep the thousands of marathon runners hydrated (and motivated) as they fight to complete the final miles of the race. The Taylors cheer extra loud for Tim Revell, father of two boys with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), who has run the marathon every year since 2005 to raise money for research to find a cure for this terrible disease.
